 This 18-track mixtape has recordings of rap, poetry and teachings from poetry/rap classes SITY (also known as Shayna SheNess Israel) has taught in places like Chester and Philadelphia.
SITY (Should I Tell You) is a poet, educator, rapper and founder. As a native Brooklynite, she credits her rapping & emceeing skills to the hip hop that flooded in thru her room walls from the block parties and deejay spinning sessions in the school yard across the street from her sixth floor Brooklyn apartment. As a Black feminist, SITY hopes that her work inspires all--particular young womyn who rap to themselves in their bedrooms and showers wondering if there is anyone out there who cares. Her work praises the type of intellectualism that comes from the "hood"--a way of questioning the world, injustices and systems, a sharp, oral style of argumentation, a level of discourse brought to any subject from television to the long lines at the check cashing place.
